In recent sports news, the future of quarterbacks Geno Smith and Drew Lock at the Seattle Seahawks is riddled with doubt.
The new Seahawks head coach, Mike Macdonald, has notably voiced his uncertainty over whether these players will be returning to the team in the upcoming season.

During an interview with Aaron Levine of KCPQ, Coach Macdonald was asked, “Are Geno Smith and Drew Lock both involved in the future of this organization going forward and finding success here?”
His response was unspecific – he mentioned that it was a tough question that he wasn’t in a position to answer at the moment.
“That’s a tough question, and it’s one that I probably can’t answer right now. We’re doing a lot of work on those guys, and I’ve had conversations just to get to know them, and understand who they are as people and their background, goals, what their family’s like, where they’re from. I didn’t know anything about them coming into this whole thing. Right now we’re in the phase of figuring out who they are. Obviously one or two or both would fit into our plan going forward, but right now we probably don’t have that answer for you.”

The question put forth by Levine was intriguing and unconventional, as it grouped starter quarterback Geno Smith with backup Drew Lock.
Smith boasts a lucrative $12.7 million guaranteed base salary for the coming season. In contrast, Lock, who served as a backup last season, sees his contract drawing to a close in March.
Macdonald had the opportunity to dispel this ambiguity by stating that Smith would be retained while Lock’s future remained uncertain.
However, instead of asserting such a differentiation, he indicated they were both in a state of uncertainty.
Despite his recently restructured contract and successful track record, Geno Smith’s future with the Seahawks appears covered in mystery.
The fact that Coach Macdonald was hesitant to confirm his position might suggest that the Seahawks organization is open to alternatives, should the right opportunity turn up this offseason.
