“I don’t know if he’s stuck” Bulls’ Lonzo Ball Faces Setback in Knee Rehabilitation, Unable to Sprint

The skilled point guard of the Chicago Bulls, Lonzo Ball has been busy dealing with the knee injury and due to that he had missed time with the Bulls’ squad. Billy Donovan, head coach of the squad has recently shared an unfavorable report regarding his health.

According to AHN Fire Digital via Joe Cowley of Chicago Sun Times, shared, "After a source told the Sun-Times earlier in the day that the Bulls were having even more concerns about Ball’s progress in his left knee rehabilitation, coach Billy Donovan was asked about it and didn’t exactly paint a picture of positivity."

As per Donovan, Ball for now cannot sprint but he is active and is practicing other activities like shooting. Donovan further shares, "I don’t know if he’s stuck. He is doing some shooting, some running, some jumping. He hasn’t done any sprinting yet, that I know."

The head coach of the Bulls that he is looking forward to seeing the Wayman Tisdale Award recipient build his strength of legs. He shared, "They talked about that, and [sprinting] was kind of a goal, a set point. I do think the one thing that has been a priority right now so he does not get set back is he needs to develop more strength in his leg."

"Because of him having that surgery and being off his leg so long, before he’s really able to ramp up, I think they want him to get to a place physically that relates to his quad strength, hamstring strength, before he starts to really do that. I don’t want to say it’s a holdup, but that’s where they want to get him to. In terms of what he’s doing, he feels better."

Due to his knee issues, Ball has not played for the Bulls since the 2021-2022 season. Throughout the season, he had an average of 13 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.8 steals. From the field his shooting percentage is 42.3 percent and from the free-throw line is 75 percent.

Ball had earlier shared with ESPN, "After the other surgeries, this one has definitely gone the best as far as [the] recovery process. The last two rehab processes I had, I was getting better and then it just hit a standstill and it started going down. And I haven’t hit that yet."

The point guard deal with the Bulls was done in 2021 for $80 million and he has made only thirty-five appearances with the Chicago squad. He was selected in the 2017 NBA Draft in the first round as the second overall pick. He was picked up by the Los Angeles Lakers and then went to the New Orleans Pelicans.
