“Coach Belichick is the best coach in the history” Texans GM Nick Caserio Astonished Bill Belichick Will Start the Year Without Coaching Job

It appears as if Bill Belichick will likely enter the 2024 NFL season without a head coaching job. It will be the first time since 1975 the legendary coach is starting the season without a coaching gig.

Belichick"s lack of offers have nothing to do with his abilities. Most analysts and fans agree that he remains one of the greatest coaches in the history of the NFL.

Houston Texans GM Nick Caserio and Bill Belichick have a long relationship that stretches back to 2002 when Caserio was the offensive coaching assistant for the New England Patriots. The 48-year-old NFL executive recently provided his views on Belichick starting the season on the sidelines.

“Coach Belichick is the best coach in the history of not only football, [but] sport in my opinion," said Caserio per Pro Football Talk.

Caserio has worked his way up the ranks and credits Belichick for a great deal of his success along the way.

“He’s a big reason that I am where I am today, so I have a lot of respect, and appreciation, and admiration for him." added Caserio.

While Belichick might not be every fans cup of tea, it is hard to argue with his results on the field. The 71-year-old is a six-time Super Bowl winner and has been named the AP coach of the year on three occasions. He has also won two more Super Bowls as an assistant, taking his total up to eight.

Over 29 years, the former New England Patriots coach has a 467-302 record with a win-loss percentage of .647.

Caserio echoed the sentiments that many of us are feeling as we prepare for the new NFL season:

“I’d say the league is always better when people like Bill Belichick are around."
