In a recent episode of “KG Certified” featuring former Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce, Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett dropped a bombshell regarding LeBron James. Garnett claimed that at the age of 39, LeBron is reaching new heights with what he cryptically referred to as the ‘New Juice,’ strongly hinting at the possibility of steroid use.
LeBron James, now in his 21st NBA season, continues to amaze fans with his stellar performances. In the latest game against the Clippers on February 28, he showcased his magical skills in the fourth quarter, leading the Lakers to a 116-112 victory.
However, it’s essential to note that Kevin Garnett’s controversial comments were made on February 24 during a conversation with Paul Pierce on the show.
The discussion took a turn when Garnett asked if LeBron’s son, Bronny James, could score against him during a faceoff (ofcourse, after the USC Trojan players enters the league). Pierce agreed, prompting Garnett to suggest that LeBron is on a performance-enhancing substance, colloquially calling it the ‘new juice.’
KG: Can Bronny get a bucket on Bron ?
Paul Pierce: Yeah for sure
KG: You seen his dad? his dad on that balco, he on that new juice

The NBA implemented testing for Human Growth Hormone (HGH) before the 2015-16 season. Nevertheless, in September 2023, unearthed documents revealed LeBron James’ longtime friend and business manager, Ernest Mims, and trainer David Alexander as clients of Biogenesis. While ESPN’s reporting did not accuse James of using performance-enhancing drugs, the connection to the Biogenesis scandal raises eyebrows.
It’s crucial to clarify that the documents do not claim LeBron James used steroids, but his association with the scandal had caused a stir.
A representative for LeBron stated that he had no prior knowledge of being referenced in the Biogenesis investigation until approached by ESPN last year. Despite requests for interviews, both James and Mims declined after ESPN provided pertinent information for their inquiries.
Note: In 2013, the Biogenesis Scandal exposed MLB players getting drugs for better performance on the field. An ex-employee shared records, leading to MLB suing six people. Consequently, thirteen players got suspended for using banned substances.
