On February 25, 2024, ex-Carolina Panthers Quaterback, Cam Newton got into a fight at a 7-on-7 football tournament in Atlanta, Georgia. The trouble started when Newton teased Stephon and TJ Brown from TopShelf Performance. TJ claimed that Newton grabbed Stephon after coaches confronted him, leading to the brawl. A video of the incident was widely shared on social media.
Now, Cam Newton is addressing the incident on his own platform, ‘4th & 1 with Cam Newton.’ He expressed disappointment in himself for letting things escalate and apologized for his actions. Newton admitted that he had seen numerous clips of the incident and acknowledged that, given his position, he shouldn’t have put himself in such a situation. He agreed that things could have gotten worse.
“The truth of the matter is, me being in my position I should’ve never put myself in that position. That’s just the truth. Cause even then, that sh*t could’ve got ugly,” said Newton.
Newton recognizes that some people might find humor in the situation but is adamant about stressing its seriousness. He mentioned that while humor is okay, this is a serious matter. Newton referred to a clip he saw, where people were laughing, contrasting it with the serious tone during events like Nipsey Hussle’s passing. He raised the point that if serious injuries occurred on either side, the situation would not be a laughing matter.
When did Cam Newton last play in the NFL?
Cam Newton concluded his professional career in 2021 with the Carolina Panthers and has not been associated with any NFL team since the end of that season.
