The issue of Dak Prescott"s contract has been a major talking point for the Dallas Cowboys during the offseason. The quarterback enters the final season of a four-year agreement with a massive $59.455 million cap hit, the second-highest in the NFL behind only Cleveland Browns" quarterback Deshaun Watson.
It has been 28 years now since the Cowboys have won the Super Bowl and Jerry Jones is doing every thing in his power to break the organization"s long-standing drought. Per a recent article on NFL.com, the team owner spoke to reporters about Prescott"s contract, his performance and what he expects from the quarterback in 2024.
“My point is that we can be better. Dak [Prescott] can play better than he has maybe…The good news is, I"m convinced that he can play better and I"m convinced that we can do some things better all the way around and so we"re all in," said Jones.

The “all-in" comments will be music to the ears of the fanbase but Prescott is running out of time to justify the colossal contract the team rewarded him with. The Cowboys have finished 12-5 over the last three seasons but have only won one playoff game over that stretch. The 30-year-old quarterback has put up solid numbers during the regular season but failed to match that quality in the postseason.
The issue remains whether the Cowboys are willing to extend Prescott beyond this year. Jones would not commit on the subject but insists Prescott will be around for the upcoming season.
“What we do there or don"t do I couldn"t say at this time," Jones said, “but the main thing is he"s going to be our quarterback."
