Since entering the league as the first overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Sidney Crosby, also known as “Sid the Kid,” has firmly established himself one of the game’s superstars.
The 36-year-old from Halifax has been the pillar of this Pittsburgh Penguins team since making his NHL debut. He has guided the Pennsylvania team to three Stanley Cup championships and maintained a standard that few teams can match.
This season, however, things have not quite worked out as planned for the Canadian center. Despite some stellar play on the ice, the Penguins have struggled to find their footing. Pittsburgh currently sits near the bottom of the Metropolitan Division with a subpar 27-24 record. The team is at risk of missing out on the playoffs for the second season in a row.
With the NHL traded deadline fast approaching, teams are scrambling to add, trade or rebuild their rosters. The Pittsburgh Penguins are apparently one team that is looking to move a couple of pieces before the March 8 trade deadline.
Asked about the team’s upcoming plans, Sidney Crosby seemed defensive after the Penguins embarrassing 6-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. When question about the “bigger picture,” Crosby was direct with his response to reporters.
“We still need to get points…I don’t know what picture you are talking about. Same situation it was yesterday.

The Pittsburgh Penguins find themselves on a three-game losing streak and have struggled to find any consistency. Rumors are circulating that several players including Jake Guentzel, Reilly Smith and Noel Acciari could be up for trade.
The Penguins face a tricky upcoming schedule with the Columbus Blue Jackets next before a difficult matchup verses Alex Ovechkin’s Washington Capitals.
