Major League Baseball’s freshly designed uniforms have been garnering attention from both the players and the community. However, as per MLB’s Mark Feinsand, these uniforms had been designed for a while before they were officially unveiled.
The league has been working on these uniforms for their improvements for the past six years. To maximize player’s optimum performance, the league has also been taking feedback from them and also from the teams as well.
The league started collaborating with athletic footwear and apparel giant, Nike and Fanatics in 2018. These uniforms were manufactured by Majestic since 2005 as per the report. The changes to the uniforms were well-detailed and meticulous.
The traditional methods for calculating body measurements of the players were sidelined and novel technology of body scan was introduced. The players with this method were outfitted with more accurate uniforms.
The brand set out to make jerseys that would fundamentally provide players with lightweight and airier material with improved fittings. The satisfaction of the players was the major point the brand wanted to deliver however, the uniforms especially considering the pants have garnered critical attention.
This is what the back of the white jerseys look like with the new template. Players are pretty unhappy. Miles Mikolas says they also don’t fit right; pants are no longer as customized, and the fabric is a very different consistency.

Last year vs this year’s replica jersey offerings from the fine folks at MLB, Nike & Fanatics. Last year’s being on the left and this year’s on the right.
I have a lot to say, so bear with me here.

MLBPA executive director, Tony Clark via The Athletic has mentioned that there has been “frustration” regarding the newly unveiled jerseys. He shared, “Any time there’s change, there’s an adjustment period. Sometimes that adjustment period goes well, sometimes not so much. In this instance, there appear to be some misses that could have otherwise not been misses.”
Further continuing, “We are on the phone with the requisite parties that are involved in making that decision because we aren’t. We’re trying to make sure our guys have what they need in the fashion that they need it. And it’s reflective of what being a major-league ballplayer should be reflective of.”
“It’s an ongoing dialogue. Hopefully, we can get some things done over the course of the next six weeks of spring training. Because I’d hate to be in a place where we’re still having conversations about some of the challenges we have in that regard once the lights come on.”

In one of the episodes of “The Chris Rose Rotation”, All-Star Lucas Giolito, the talented pitcher of the Chicago White Sox, shared his thoughts on the new uniforms and mentioned, “They don’t look so good”.
He further continues, “There’s you know stitching coming out. The letters are really small. Everyone says they, like, feel cheap. I don’t know, I’ve actually been rocking it no undershirt and it’s felt comfortable. It’s been very comfortable, it’s very lightweight. I’ve only worn the white pants once for photo day. I didn’t really notice that they were as see-through”.
