Louisville Running Back Isaac Guerendo Shows off Athleticism at NFL Combine, Propels Himself Up in the Draft Ladder

The NFL Draft scouting combine offers athletes on the fringe of many NFL team’s draft boards the chance to show off their talents. That is exactly what Isaac Guerendo did in Indianapolis this weekend. While some players may let nerves get the better of them on the biggest audition of their life, Guerendo was outstanding.

The former Louisville running back’s college numbers may not pop, but his aggressive running style and explosiveness make him one of the top sleeper picks in this NFL draft class.

At the combine, Guerendo 40-yard dash time of 4.33 seconds was the best among all running backs. He also posted the highest vertical among running backs with 41.5 inches. If that was not enough, the 23-year-old ranked second in broad jump, fourth in the three-cone drill and fourth in the shuttle run.

Isaac Guerendo played five seasons in college but finished with more than 100 rushing attempts just once. He had limited touches during four years with the Wisconsin Badgers where his highlight was a 82-yard touchdown run against Eastern Michigan. A transfer to Louisville offered the 6’1″ back more opportunities and Guerendo finished with 810 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns with the Cardinals in 2023.

In the span of a few days, Guerendo has propelled his name up the ranks of this year’s draft class. It has been a long wait for the Indiana native but it seems as if a call up to the NFL awaits after one of the best combines performances we have seen from a running back in years.
