“He’s one of the best LA high school players” Bill Simmons Takes Aim at Recruiting Rankings Amidst Stellar Performance by Trent Perry

The Shorty Award recipient, sportswriter, podcaster, and CEO of the sports culture website The Ringer, Bill Simmons has recently shared his opinions on recruiting rankings of prominent point guard of Harvard-Westlake’s, Trent Perry.

The veteran podcaster is not satisfied with how the rankings have taken place and has further questioned not only the commit rankings but the entire industry as well. Simmons expressed his opinions and also shared a story from the Los Angeles Daily News about the four-star player’s forty-point performance.

His impressive score was fundamental in leading the Harvard-Westlake to victory against Carlsbad in the CIF SoCal Regional Open Division semifinals. Simmons had mentioned, “Trent Perry not cracking the top-25 of any top-100 prospect list shows how stupid and political and useless those lists are. He’s one of the best LA high school players since I’ve lived here. Leads, produces and wins. (Going to USC by the way.)”

According to ESPN’s latest list featuring 100 recruits, Perry is in the 26th position. The four-star recruit comes from Studio City, California and as per 247Sports, he is the number five point guard of his class. Perry has given one of his best performances in the game against Carlsbad.

Apart from dropping 40 points he also registered seven rebounds and five assists in the game. Perry has become a competent player who can handle the ball effectively, is a fluid shooter, and a versatile player. Perry has been successfully added to a group of excellent guards with the USC Trojans as well.
