Appearing on the podcast, The Mayor’s Office with Sean Casey, veteran third baseman Josh Donaldson announces his retirement on Monday after 13 MLB seasons.

The former American League MVP and three-time All-Star shared the news during the podcast of former player Casey, at the age of 38 Donaldson has marked a 13-year career in MLB.
In the podcast, he said on the retirement announcement and his “next chapter,”
“Today is a sad but also a happy day for me to where I am going to announce my retirement from the game that I’ve dedicated my entire life around. It’s sad because I’ll be not able to go out there and play the game that I love anymore. But it’s also a very happy time that I get to be around the family and kind of take that next chapter in life.”
The All-Star finishes his career with totaled 279 home runs, 1,310 hits, an AL-best 123 RBIs, and with a slash line of .261/.358/.489 in his 15 seasons.
His best season as per records was in 2015 with Toronto, he recorded 41 homers and drove in a league-high 123 runs while scoring an MLB-high 122 runs.
As per his career, he had played for Oakland in 2010 and from 2012-14, Toronto from 2015-18, Cleveland in ’18, Atlanta in ’19, Minnesota in ’20 and ’21, the Yankees in ’22 and ’23, and Milwaukee in ’23.
Donaldson also received 23 of 30 first-place votes for the MVP, finishing ahead of Mike Trout for the award, a three-time All-Star who had won two Silver Slugger awards during his MLB career.
He also won the National League Comeback Player of the Year award in 2019 while he played for the Braves.
