On Monday, it was revealed that Arch Manning, the Texas quarterback, won’t be appearing in the upcoming college football video game. While over 10,000 other players are joining in, Manning has decided to sit this one out. According to a report by Anwar Richardson from Orangebloods, Manning wants to focus on real-life football instead.
Many people are talking about this decision, wondering why he’s skipping out on the game. Some thought it might be about the money, but ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported otherwise. It turns out Manning chose not to be in the game because he’s not the starting quarterback yet. He wants to wait until he’s the main guy on the team.
Despite being a highly marketable player, Manning hasn’t taken any money for his name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights in college, except for one deal with Panini America for his trading card, which he donated to charity.
Manning, the youngest in the famous Manning family, only threw five passes in his freshman year as the third-string quarterback. But he’s expected to take over as the starting quarterback for Texas in 2025 after Quinn Ewers heads to the NFL.
If Manning had agreed to be in the game, he would’ve gotten $600 and a free copy of it.
