The Seattle Seahawks made headlines on March 6, 2024, by releasing Free Safety Quandre Diggs alongside Jamal Adams. This strategic decision is expected to save the Seahawks a substantial $27.5 million in cash and create valuable salary-cap space for the team.

A veteran with the Seahawks since 2019, Diggs originally joined the team after beginning his career with the Detroit Lions. The announcement of his release took a cheeky turn when Diggs took to X (formerly Twitter), humorously writing, “Got fired on my day off. Damn,” accompanied by a lighthearted gif.

The tweet quickly gained traction, amassing over 2 million views.

Diggs’ NFL journey with the Seahawks started in October 2019 when he was traded along with a 7th-round pick from the Lions in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He further signed a lucrative three-year, $40 million extension with the team in March 2022.

Looking back at the 2023 NFL season, Diggs proved to be a defensive force for the Seahawks in all 17 games. His statistics included a total of 63 tackles, comprising 32 solo tackles and 95 assisted tackles.

Diggs also proved to be versatility with one sack, five interceptions, and 21 passes defended. Diggs was also a key player in the Seahawks’ defensive strategy with a touchdown, forced fumble, and 21 fumble recoveries.
