The Giants may be losing their experienced tight end Darren Waller to retirement despite the team wanting to keep him for another year.
Teams are allowed to talk to free agents from Monday and Waller is among them, but he has made no indication of wanting to stay in New York.
“I know the team is getting prepared for a new season, so I’m not trying to have it be this drawn-out thing,” Waller told Dan Duggan of TheAthletic.com. “I’ll be deciding pretty soon, but I haven’t made a decision yet.”
Waller has been plagued by hamstring injuries in the past couple of seasons bit says he can still perform at the highest level.
He freely admits the team “don’t have the luxury just to sit around and wait when they could be making moves and decisions,” said the former Raiders TE.
