With the Super Bowl now over, NFL executives and coaches have switched their attention to player contracts and the upcoming draft. We still have nearly 50 days to the 2024 NFL Draft but speculation is already swirling about where prospects will land.
This year’s quarterback class is particularly special with some projecting that five or six quarterbacks could be drafted in the first round. 2020 was an exceptional class for quarterbacks with Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert all drafted over the first 10 picks and Jordan Love and Jalen Hurts following soon after. Some experts believe with stars like USC’s Caleb Williams and LSU’s Jayden Daniels in the mix, this class could turn out to be even better.
With the draft set to take place on April 25th, NFL Analyst Charles Davis has been breaking down the numbers and provided fans with his first mock draft. It comes as no surprise that Davis has three quarterbacks selected with the first three picks as the Chicago Bears, Washington Commanders and New England Patriots are all looking to upgrade at the position.
Davis, however, stunned many fans when he placed Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy as the sixth overall pick. The 6’3″ Illinois native is coming off a big season where he led the Wolverines to their first National Championship in 26 years. He finished the year with an impressive 2,991 yards, 22 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions with a 72.3 completion percentage.

The New York Giants signed former first-round pick Daniel Jones to a colossal four-year, $160 million contract in 2023. The decision has not quite worked out as planned with the quarterback starting just six games last year, finishing with a 1-5 record.
Davis has five total quarterback going in the first round of this years draft with Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye and Bo Nix all accompanying McCarthy.
