“They only care about black people every four years” Charles Barkley Criticises Democrats For Not Doing Enough for Black Voters

Charles Barkley is known for his comical, witty and direct takes on basketball but this week the former NBA player took on a more serious subject.

Speaking on CNN’s “King Charles,” a show that Barkley co-hosts alongside Gayle King, the 61-year-old spoke about the upcoming election and the role of black voters in determining the outcome.

“The reason I think the Democratic party and President Biden is losing black votes is they only care about black people every four years,” said Barkley.

President Joe Biden is set to face off against former President Donald Trump with Americans set to go to the polls on November 5 this year. Biden edged the previous election with 81 million votes, the most for any president candidate has received in American history. Black voters rallied around Biden the last time around but it is uncertain whether they will come out in similar numbers to support the current president.

Barkley, however, understands the frustration the black community faces after years of disappointment from a Democratic Party that does little to better their circumstances.

“They come into our neighbourhoods and say ‘were going to make stuff better,'” added Barkley.

He went on to say that at the end of the day, not enough has been done and the black communities still face issue when it comes to their neighbourhoods and schools.

“I understand why black people want to vote for somebody else,” said Barkley

The former Phoenix Suns All-Star admitted that he has only voted Republican once in the past for John Kasich.
