Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic is having his best season yet. He is averaging an impressive 34.6 points, 9.8 assists, and 9.0 rebounds per game while leading the team to a playoff position in the competitive Western Conference.
Many consider him to be one of the best offensive talents ever.
Doncic has recently achieved five consecutive triple-doubles with 30+ points. However, some believe his ball-dominant playstyle can be exhausting for his teammates.
Former Mavericks player Chandler Parsons expressed his frustration on his podcast, suggesting that Doncic should involve his teammates more.
Chandler Parsons thinks it’s ‘exhausting’ being Luka Doncic’s teammate and watching him control the ball
"I think [Luka Doncic] is an unbelievable talent, he's literally a guard version of [Nikola] Jokic, where he can do anything…But as a teammate, it's a little exhausting… pic.twitter.com/t0eX5t3CCw

Despite this criticism, the Mavericks have a solid record and are expected to perform well in the playoffs.
In a recent game against the Miami Heat, Doncic showcased his dominance with 35 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. He played a key role in the team"s victory, contributing with tough shots and controlling the game.
However, the conversation following the game centered more on the criticism of Doncic’s playstyle rather than praising his performance.
Parsons specifically mentioned how mesmerizing Doncic is with the basketball but emphasized that it can be exhausting for teammates to witness the same actions repeatedly.
He suggested that Doncic should utilize the talents of his teammates more effectively. Despite the criticism, Doncic’s individual talent and leadership have been instrumental in the Mavericks" success this season.
"I think [Luka Doncic] is an unbelievable talent…But as a teammate, it's a little exhausting watching the same sh*t over and over again."

The criticism of Luka Doncic"s playstyle has recently been highlighted, particularly after remarks from Charles Barkley and Reggie Miller during a the recent game.
Barkley, along with Parsons, believes that Doncic should involve his teammates more instead of holding the ball for longer periods of time.
Miller, on the other hand, seemed consistently negative about Doncic throughout the game and suggested that he is entering a villain era.
Despite the criticism, Doncic"s statistics speak for themselves, as he is currently one of the best players in the world, averaging impressive numbers in points, assists, and rebounds per game.
However, it is not just his reliance on isolation scoring that concerns critics, but also the amount of time he requires to make plays.

Doncic dominates the Mavericks" offense with his ball-dominant tendencies, leaving limited opportunities for other players, especially with the addition of Kyrie Irving.
The Mavericks" attempts to surround Doncic with the right supporting cast have not been successful so far, and doubts remain about their potential, success, and Doncic"s ability to thrive with his current playing style until they win a title.
Despite Doncic"s MVP-worthy performance this season, some, including former teammate Chandler Parsons, find it exhausting to play alongside him due to his iso-heavy playstyle.
Fans reacted as follows:
Man is top 3 in assist, top 3 in potential assists, and every teammate he plays with talks about how easy he makes the game for them but we’re running this narrative now?

Luka hate is unreal
— 23 💫👑 (@Br0nToLA23) March 8, 2024
Sure sure.
Now other than Kyrie, who else can do even half of what Luka does offensively?
Tim hardaway jr (ONLY against the Rockets) and that’s it right?
Luka HAS to do it all…
Get him some shot creators and defenders so he can do less- bro probably doesn’t enjoy doing it all.— Preston (@Dripp_Gawd) March 8, 2024
Facts Luka isn’t a winning player and never will be

I don’t even remember anything good Parsons has done. I didn’t even know he played with Luka 💀
— Woo (@woosupreme_) March 8, 2024
I don't agree with a lot of what Chadler says. Even the comparison to Jokic is problematic, considering that Jokic doesn't hold on to the ball nearly as much as Luka. Luk has done a better job converting 3's, but he does hold the ball too long, and doesn't move enough wo it.

It was real exhausting to watch you be a total waste of $46 million too.

That car accident messed your head up, CP.
With all due respect

This is dumb. Dallas isn't losing b/c Luka isn't passing. "Per game", he's 1st in open shots generated for teammates, 1st in secondary assists (ie. hockey assists), 3rd in assists, 3rd in Assist%, & 10th in passes. Dallas is losing b/c of DEFENSE & reliance on the 3-pointers.

Chandler Parsons couldn’t be Luka on Luka worse day. I’m so sick and tired of these athletes getting on Tv hatin like parsons you wasn’t even an Allstar
— Dee (@DeUntize) March 8, 2024
Honestly @luka7doncic looks like someone playing @NBA2K …spread the floor and let him dribble and if you cut he’ll find you but he’s looking to score. Honestly it’s just easy for him as most of these international players have said it’s easier to score n the NBA then overseas

What all the Luka naysayers have missed the past two years is how injured his teams have been.
I forget the different amount of starting lineups the Mavericks have used this year, but I believe they are up to 30+ diff starting lineups used this season.
— Adam (@Bravo_0ne) March 8, 2024
Last thing here…Luka's usage rate is on par to exceeding what Harden's was in Houston…..too taxing on him…..too boring for teammates….and hard to beat any top team wo/ball moving a little more and him actually working off the ball more often…for post ups, pin downs etc.
— JJoe13 (@johnericjoe) March 8, 2024
Agree….for Luka to 'Win' he has to remember that he's playing with guys who want to play Basketball….and not watch him play Basketball…..this team as constructed now needs him to average 25 to 27 pts and not 30+….he's Harden all over again… #hardtowinlikethat
