“I never fear confrontation” Lakers’ D’Angelo Russell reflects on how public humiliation has helped him be a better player

The NBA All-Rookie Second Team of 2016 and NBA All-Star point guard of the Los Angeles Lakers, D’Angelo Russell has given one of his most incredible performances against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks are currently standing in the Eastern conference in the third spot. 

For the season they are 41-23 whereas the Lakers are currently occupying the ninth position in the Western conference and for the season they are 35-30. The Lakers defeated the Bucks with a concluding score of 123-122. 

D’Angelo Russell, the Jerry West Award recipient has encountered difficulties both on and off court which subsequently has made him more resilient and determined. Against the Bucks, Russell posted a team-high score of 44 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists. 

According to NBA, Russell shared regarding his prominent performance and how the challenges faced by him has made him capable and irrepressible, “On the floor, I’ve always felt like I was capable of doing things, (and) getting hot makes it a little more exciting. Off the floor, obviously you all know what I’ve been through.”

“Public humiliation has done nothing but mold me into the killer that you all see today. I never lack confidence. I never fear confrontation. I want all the smoke. … I just feel confident in what I bring to the basketball game, so whatever room I walk in, I’m confident.”

Anthony Davis scored 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Austin Reaves posted 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. Rui Hachimura added 12 points to the tally including 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Reaves also shared regarding Russell’s feat, “D-Lo just stepped up and won us the game, and obviously with Spence with the defense on that last possession. Just seeing D-Lo take over the game, I constantly kept telling him in timeouts, ‘Take us home.’”

From the Bucks’ side, Giannis Antetokounmpo posted a team high score of 34 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists. Damian Lillard also added 28 points, 5 rebounds, and 12 assists. Malik Beasley added 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.
