Kansas Chiefs and Pro Bowl Defensive Tackle Chris Jones Agree Five-year, $95 Million Guaranteed Contract

After back-to-back Super Bowl championships, the Kansas City Chiefs will set their sights on becoming the first team with three consecutive Super Bowls. On Saturday, the organization took a big step towards toward their ultimate goal of a 3-peat by resigning highly-rated defensive tackle Chris Jones.

Jones will return to Kansas City on a monster five-year deal that will see him earn a guaranteed $95 million. The finals terms of the agreement are yet to be finalized but the guaranteed amount will be paid over first three years, per ESPN.

With the $95 million guaranteed over three years, Jones becomes the highest paid defensive tackle overtaking San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa.

The 29-year-old has waited a long time for the long-term deal he was hoping to secure and it looks as if both parties have finally agreed on a figure that will see Jones in Kansas City for the foreseeable future. Prior to the 2023 season, the lineman held out for an extension and even sat out the Chiefs’ training camp before eventually agreeing to a one-year.

The gamble to bet on himself last year seems to have paid off for Chris Jones. He was part of Steve Spagnuolo’s stingy defense that conceded just 17.3 point per game during the regular season. After finishing the 2023 season with 10.5 sacks and 30 tackles to help guide the Kansas City Chiefs to the franchise’s fourth Super Bowl title, it seemed only a matter of time before the organization re-signed the five-time Pro-Bowler.
