Two-time Super Bowl champion and Second-team All-Pro, Malcolm Butler, has reportedly retired from the league. The veteran cornerback has confirmed that he is concluding his career with KPRC 2 Houston.

The prominent cornerback was undrafted in 2014 and later signed with the New England Patriots on a three-year $1.53 million contract as his performance in rookie minicamp caught attention of the Patriots squad.

Butler shared via KPRC 2 via Aaron Wilson, “I am retired. I did the best I can do. Walking away from the game feeling comfortable. Everybody can do more, but I’m satisfied with my career. It’s time to move on and transition.”

He further continued sharing about his prominent journey and mentioned, “Oh man, it was great. to play with Tom Brady and to play with so many great players, win so many games, for the first four years and go to three Super Bowls. People play a long time and never got even close to a Super Bowl. To play with so may great players, it’s truly a blessing. To be able to play for the Kraft family, man, good people.”

One of the most talented cornerbacks on the Patriots squad grabbed positive attention when he intercepted Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson’s pass in the last seconds of the Super Bowl XLIX. His interception is considered one of the greatest moments in the league and subsequently, the Patriots were able to clinch the victory.

Butler, throughout his career, had played with multiple teams; from 2014 to 2017, he was with the Patriots squad. From 2018 to 2020, he played with the Tennessee Titans squad, and then joined the Arizona Cardinals squad for one season. In 2022, he once again joined the Patriots squad.

Butler had further shared that he intends to pen a book as well, detailing his journey from being undrafted to reaching the highest stage of football two times and winning Super Bowls. He mentioned, “There’s a lot of things I can do. I want to keep myself busy. “

Butler concluded his career with 406 tackles, 17 interceptions, three sacks, 5 forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 82 passes defensed, and also registered two defensive touchdowns.
