“Gabe Vincent is finally starting to transition towards improving his conditioning and ramping up on the court,” Charania reported. “His window — I’m told — to potentially return begins next week. And this is a guy that’s only played five games in the month of December, last played Dec. 20. And they’re hopeful that there’s no setback. That’s always been the thing here with Gabe Vincent’s rehab — it was before his knee surgery, and then after he underwent that arthroscopic knee surgery.”

This breakthrough news comes after the guard’s hiatus due to knee surgery. Although an exact timeline for Vincent’s return is not finalized yet, potential dates are speculated to be as early as next week according to Charania’s sources.
Vincent hasn’t been able to fully demonstrate his potential yet in his first season with the Lakers. Despite playing only five games, averaging 5.4 points with a 37.5 percent field goal percentage, his previous performances promise more.
Vincent began his tenure with the LA Lakers after a three-year, $33 million deal was penned in the 2023 offseason. This agreement followed his praiseworthy gameplay in the Miami Heat’s 2023 NBA Finals.
Despite Vincent’s absence, the Lakers have found a solid performer in guard D’Angelo Russell, who is averaging 18. points, 3. rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game this season.
Russell’s scoring spree continues in March, averaging 22. points at an impressive 51.9 percent field goal accuracy. In his best scoring display this month, he scored 44 points against the Milwaukee Bucks.
With Vincent set to return, some of the scoring pressure on Russell could be eased, and the team dynamics may witness a change.
