Over the last seven seasons, Joe Mixon’s work ethic, determination and attitude made him a fan favorite with the Cincinnati Bengals faithful. After a successful run that saw the Bengals reach a Super Bowl and an AFC championship, Mixon looks to be moving on.
The Bengals were expected to release Joe Mixon this offseason but according to a report NFL insider Ian Rapaport, the organization will instead trade him to the Houston Texans.
The departure of Devin Singletary to the New York Giants left an opening in the Texan’s roster and the running back merry-go-round sees Mixon land in Texas.
The Bengals have agreed to a two-year, $8 million deal with former Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts running back Zack Moss to replace Mixon in their backfield.

Last season, the 27-year-old recorded his fourth career 1000-yard rushing season. He finished the 2023 season with 1034 rushing yards, 376 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
Over 97 regular season games with Cincinnati, Mixon finished with 6412 rushing yards, 2139 receiving yards and 62 total touchdowns.
Houston offers Mixon a talented and dynamic offense where he should flourish. Last seasons Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud is set to return for his sophomore year along with some top receivers including Nico Collins and Tank Dell.
The Texans finished 10-7 last season, qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in four seasons. The addition of one of the NFL’s top running backs should see this team return as one of the favorites for the AFC South.
