During the Houston Rockets and the Sacramento Kings game on Sunday, breakout center Alperen Sengun went down with a leg injury, who was wheel chaired off the court.

Sengun’s injury came after a challenge on Domantas Sabonis’s shot in transition he was then taken to the locker room with a right knee injury, reported to have avoided a major injury.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported he landed on his left leg, which left him “writhing in pain” and an MRI on Monday showed an ankle sprain and bone bruise, but nothing that will require surgery.

Before his injury Sengun had 14 points and The Rockets ultimately won the game 112-104, he is leading Houston in points this season, averaging a career-high 21.2 points per game.

As he chased Kings center Sabonis in transition and went up to try to block Sabonis’ shot he landed awkwardly, yelling and instantly grabbing his right knee.

In his third year he has become a key part of the Rockets averaging 21.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, and five assists a game, he is also eligible for a contract extension this summer.

He finished with 14 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals while shooting 7-of-14 from the field in the 112-104 Sunday’s win.

This season, he is averaging 21.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists a night while shooting 53.7 percent from the field.

As the update on injury highlighted “a severely sprained ankle and a bone bruise on his knee”, Houston’s star center is expected to be back on the floor for the start of the 2024-25 season.
