“It was a privilege to quarterback the Minnesota Vikings” Kirk Cousins Shares Heartwarming Message With Former Team Prior to Signing With Falcons

Kirk Cousins may have had mixed results over six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings but no one can question his dedication and leadership on the field. On Wednesday, the veteran quarterback reminded us all why he is so loved by coaches, players and fans

Cousins posted a  heartwarming 83 second message on X to thank his former team and the people of Minnesota for all their support over the years. The 35-year-old is preparing to sign a four-year, $180 million deal with the Atlanta Falcons today but put time aside to say farewell to the Vikings fanbase. He called the day “bittersweet” after a memorable period with his family in Minnesota.

“For six seasons in Minnesota I had great people around me. It was a privilege to quarterback the Minnesota Vikings,” said Cousins. “Thank you to the people of Minnesota. You meant so much to my family.”

Cousins made a name for himself with the Washington Commanders before moving to the Vikings in 2018. He has started 88 games for the organization and led them to a respectable 50-37-1 record over that stretch. The four-time Pro Bowler also guided the franchise to the playoffs on two occasions.

Over a 12-year career in the pros, Cousins has thrown for 39,471 yards and recorded 270 touchdowns over 150 games.

A move to the Atlanta Falcons offers Cousins a fascinating new project. The team is stacked with talented weapons including Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts. A reliable and experienced quarterback could be difference next season for a Falcons team that has failed to reach the playoffs since 2017.
