The Brewers were dealt a hammer blow with closer Devin Williams set to miss the first three months of the new MLB season.
Williams was diagnosed with two stress fractures in his back and is expected to make a full recovery in three months.
The Brewers, who won the National League Central Conference, will no doubt miss the reliever.
Back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins diagnosed Williams with stress fractures on either side of his T12 vertebra.
The pitcher started having back pains in September already, but a pennant run meant he had to play through the pain.
Now he must have complete rest and come back throwing bullets.
