Detroit Lions at heart of potential injury reserved list rule changes at the NFL

The Detroit Lions are coming off their best season in decades and it is not just on the field that they are proving innovative.

The NFL rules committee is considering two proposals, both from the Lions concerning players returning to active duty from the injured reserve list.

They are calling for more than the current designated eight players at once joining the roster from injured reserve, while also calling for franchises to designate two players for return as long as they are placed on injured reserve as part of the team’s cut to its initial 53-man roster.

The changes to the laws and bylaws could come into effect as early as this season.
