Former Utah Jazz Legend John Stockton Sues Washinton AG’s Office Over COVID-19 Regulations

Several professional athletes, movie stars, musicians and politicians were unhappy with the COVID-19 restrictions that had a major impact on our daily lives. NBA legend John Stockton, who is regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, has been vocal about his displeasure regarding government regulations related to the pandemic.

The former Utah Jazz star now plans to sue the Washington State Attorney General over COVID-19 bans. The 61-year-old is not alone in his battle. He has filed to suit along with numerous doctors in the state.

The concerns of Stockton revolve around freedom of speech and spreading misinformation according to one of his attorney Rick Jaffe, per Spokane’s the Spokesman-Review.

“The only thing we’re interested in is the First Amendment issue,” said Jaffe. “Does the medical board have the constitutional authority to investigate, prosecute and sanction doctors for writing articles, posting blogs on websites and speaking out in public, even if the government or the medical board thinks what they’re saying is wrong or dangerous?”

The 10-time All-Star and two-time NBA finalist has voiced his concern regularly during the past few years about the regulations surrounding COVID-19.

The former Gonzaga enrolee was also previously suspended from a college basketball game after refusing to wear a mask at a game.

Stockton’s name recognition makes him a major figure in the suit that surrounds freedom of speech and the right of doctors to speak their mind.
