Pro Bowl Cornerback Patrick Peterson Open to the Idea of Returning to Steelers, Sets his Sights on Super Bowl Ring Next Year

Louisiana State University is renowned for producing some of the game’s top defensive  back and there are very few that have had a better career than Patrick Peterson.

Peterson was highly rated prospect coming out of LSU and was snapped up with the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. The 6’1″ cornerback won both the Chuck Bednarik Award and Jim Thorpe Award in college. Over 13 seasons in the NFL, Peterson has gone on to be selected to the All-Pro First Team three times and named to the Pro Bowl on eight occasions.

The one thing missing from Peterson’s impressive resume is a coveted Super Bowl ring. The 33-year-old finds himself a free agent and insists his goal is to win a championship with whatever team he signs with.

“I would love to return back to Pittsburgh,” said Peterson, per NFL.com. “Being there in Pittsburgh I had the time of my life, being with coach Tomlin, seeing how he was able to get his guys up week in and week out. I definitely want to give it another shot to fulfil my long dream and to go win a championship.”

Peterson is open to the idea of returning to Tomlin’s resilient defense next year but also stated we was available if a team was looking for a “veteran corner.”

Last season with the Steelers, Peterson played in all 17 games (starting 16) and recorded two interceptions.

Over an impressive NFL career, gone on to play in 206 games with the Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers. He has a total of 36 interceptions to his name, 12 recovered fumble and 652 tackles.
