Morris recently became available on the market after agreeing to a contract buyout with the San Antonio Spurs.
The 13-year NBA veteran had been part of a series of trades leading up to his free agency.
Initially traded from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Indiana Pacers, Morris found himself donning a Spurs jersey following a midseason trade deadline deal that sent him from the Pacers to San Antonio in exchange for forward Doug McDermott.
Despite the trade, Morris didn’t make any appearances for the Spurs before securing his release and entering free agency.
Should the rumors materialize, Marcus Morris Sr. could provide a significant boost to the Cavaliers’ playoff aspirations. With his wealth of postseason experience, Morris could offer valuable leadership and versatility to a Cleveland squad led by standout guard Donovan Mitchell.
Known for his sharpshooting prowess, Morris boasts a commendable 40 percent shooting rate from beyond the three-point line this season, a skill set that could prove invaluable during the postseason grind.
It’s worth noting that Morris has reportedly attracted interest from multiple playoff contenders, including the Minnesota Timberwolves. The race to secure his services underscores the perceived impact he could have on a team’s postseason ambitions.
