Mike Williams will visit the Carolina Panthers in his free agency tour. The Panthers will host him next week after being released earlier this week

The Carolina Panthers are planning to host free-agent wide receiver Mike Williams for a visit next week.

Williams, who was recently released by the Los Angeles Chargers, is a 29-year-old pass catcher who attended Clemson University and was a first-team All-ACC member.

Throughout his seven-year pro career, Williams has totaled 309 receptions for 4,806 yards and 31 touchdowns, although he suffered an ACL tear in 2023.

Following his release, Williams is now free to negotiate with other NFL teams. Despite his injury, he is expected to make a full recovery for next season.

Several teams are expected to inquire about his services, including the New York Jets, who are in need of a big-play receiver.

The Jets have expressed their desire to be in the market for another starting-caliber receiver, and Williams’ skill set would be a valuable addition to the team.

The Kansas City Chiefs, despite not needing a top-quality receiver in their recent Super Bowl runs, could benefit from addressing the position this offseason.

With the recent contract restructure of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have the ability to acquire players like Williams.

Additionally, the Baltimore Ravens are in need of wide receiver help and Williams could be a valuable addition to the organization.

Playing under Lamar Jackson and under the guidance of offensive coordinator Todd Monken could help Williams reach his potential and potentially earn a Pro Bowl nod.

Lastly, the Carolina Panthers, who have already traded for Diontae Johnson, would benefit from surrounding their former No. 1 pick with quality receivers.

Williams would be a good match for the Panthers as they need a big-play receiver to pair with Johnson’s route-running abilities.

Additionally, Williams would have more opportunities for targets in Carolina compared to competing with players like Keenan Allen in Los Angeles.
