All Signs Point to USC Quarterback Caleb Williams Joining Chicago Bears After Justin Fields Trade Announcement

After a long and dragged out quarterback saga that has lasted months, the Chicago Bears seem to have finally come to a decision. It has been a monumental 24-hour period in Chicago sports history. Justin Fields is out and the highly touted prospect Caleb Williams is likely in.

A recent post from MLFootball on X reported that the Bears will select USC’s star quarterback with the first overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. The move was anticipated after Chicago traded fourth-year quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a sixth-round pick on Sunday.

Williams is considered one of the top college prospects the emerge in years. Over a two-year stint with the Trojans, the dynamic quarterback has gone on the win the prestigious Heisman Trophy and was named the AP College Football Player of the Year in 2022.

After breaking through at the University of Oklahoma, Williams transferred to Southern California where he thrived under the Hollywood lights. In 2022, he finished with an incredible 4537 passing yards, 42 touchdowns and a 66.6 completion percentage. The following season, he recorded 30 more touchdowns and added another 3633 passing yards to an already stellar resume.

The Bears are stacked with talent on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. GM Ryan Poles recently added six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen and former Philadelphia Eagle star running back D’Andre Swift to provide some weapons to the team’s future quarterback. Add Caleb Williams into the mix (and receiver DJ Moore) and the Bears should start the year with one of the most potent offenses in the NFC.
