When it is all said and done, Derrick Rose will go down as a Chicago sports legend. The former NBA MVP only spent eight of his 16 seasons in the Windy Cit but left his mark on the fanbase. During a period where the Bulls struggled after the golden era of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, Rose ensured team’s still feared visiting the United Center.
Many Bulls fans still follow Rose’s career closely and try to stay up to date with any breaking news. Chicago Bulls play-by-play announcers Stacey King and Adam Amin broke the news of Derrick Rose’s retirement during the first quarter of the team’s game against the Washington Wizards. That news, however, turned out to be false.
Welp. The Bulls broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago fell for a fake Adrian Wojnarowski tweet that Derrick Rose has retired.

X, formerly known as Twitter, can be a dangerous place and King and Amin found themselves in an embarrassing situation when they passed on news from a parody account of well-known NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski. The post, which turned out to be from @Wojdespn, and not @Wojespn (the real “Woj”), caused confusion among many basketball fans after it went viral on social media.
