Former Bears QB Justin Fields Joins Pittsburgh Steelers in Blockbuster Trade

The two-time Graham-George Offensive Player of the Year and former quarterback of the Chicago Bears, Justin Fields, has reportedly been traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers squad.

The general manager of the Steelers squad, Ryan Poles, recently shared in a statement that mentioned, “We have engaged in multiple trade conversations in recent weeks and believe trading Justin at this time to Pittsburgh is what is best for both Justin and the Bears. Today we spoke to Justin to inform him of the trade and the rationale behind it for us as a club. We want to thank him for his tireless dedication, leadership and all he poured into our franchise and community the last three years and wish him the best towards a long and successful NFL career.”

Fields was selected in the 2021 NFL Draft in the first round as the eleventh pick by the Chicago Bears. The two-time Griese-Brees Quarterback of the Year, in three years with the squad, registered 6,674 passing yards, forty touchdowns, and thirty interceptions.

In the last campaign, Fields impressively recorded 2,562 passing yards, including 16 touchdowns, throughout thirteen games. However, the Bears are still in the spotlight regarding the selection of USC quarterback, Caleb Williams.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, “Trade condition update: The 2025 6th-round pick that the Steelers traded to the Bears for Justin Fields will become a 4th-round pick if he plays in 51 percent of the plays this season, per source.”

Fields has now joined former Broncos Super Bowl winning veteran quarterback, Russell Wilson. He is expected to be the starting quarterback and Fields will be their next option.
