NC State Wolfpack Clinch ACC Tournament Title After 37 Years

After thirty-seven years, the NC State Wolfpack has won the ACC Tournament after defeating the North Carolina Tar Heels with a concluding score of 76-84. The Wolfpack have become the first team to conquer five games in five days. 

The team relied on incredible performances given by DJ Horne and DJ Burns. The Wolfpack surpassed the Louisville Cardinals with a final score of 94-85, Syracuse Orange with a score of 65-83, then defeated Duke Blue Devils with a score of 69-74. 

After Duke, the Wolfpack went on to defeat the Virginia Cavaliers with a final score of 65-73. After Virginia, it was UNC, and the Wolfpack achieved victory against them as well, showing an incredible level of collecting back-to-back victories. 

DJ Horne posted 29 points, 4 rebounds, and one assist, and DJ Burns Jr. registered 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists against the Tar Heels. According to the Associated Press, the head coach of the Kevin Keatts shared, “Winning five games in five nights is a miracle. We’ve got to get some rest because, guess what, we’re going to the NCAA Tournament.”

DJ Horne also shared his message, mentioning, “I can’t even put it into words right now. Just a week ago, it was looking like our season was about to be over, and here we are now, man, on top of the world.”

The MVP of the tournament was DJ Burns and he also shared, “We knew we were capable of it. It just doesn’t feel real. It may eventually.”

Mohamed Diarra also added 11 points, and 14 rebounds, and Michael O’Connell posted 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. From North Carolina’s side, RJ Davis posted 30 points, 6 rebounds, and five assists. Armando Bacot also added 18 points and 12 rebounds to the scoreboard.
