Steelers Sign Russell Wilson and Acquire Justin Fields in Blockbuster Trades

The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly signed former Broncos Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson and have also acquired quarterback Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, “The #Bears are trading QB Justin Fields to the #Steelers, sources say. A new QB into the competition.”

Wilson will begin his campaign with the Steelers with the 2024 season, and also shared in one of his posts on Platform X, formerly Twitter, that he is elevated to join Fields in Pittsburgh.

Both Wilson and Fields do not have any contracts extending after 2024 and will have this year to show their excellence with the Steelers squad. If Wilson struggles early in the season, they will have Fields as their next option.

According to Albert Breer, “Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was upfront with Justin Fields—told him that Russell Wilson is the starter, and Fields will work from there. Fields has told people he’s excited for the new beginning.

Tomlin’s connections at Ohio State run deep, so that didn’t hurt.”

Wilson, in his last season with the Broncos, completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 3,070 yards, including 26 touchdowns, registering eight interceptions in fifteen games. Fields last season, as per BR, completed 61.4 percent passes for 2,562 yards, including 16 touchdowns. His interceptions were nine in a total of thirteen games.
