This win holds importance as it was a rematch of the 2022 final, which Świątek also won. Moreover, her win marked her as the first woman since 2016 to clinch multiple BNP Paribas Open titles. Świątek ‘s achievement was made more remarkable because she didn’t drop a single set throughout the entire tournament.
British Academy Film Award recepient Tom Holland and his Golden Globe Award winning girlfriend, Zendaya, stole the spotlight with their presence at the finals in Indian Wells, California. Zendaya sported a chic white tennis skirt matched with a coordinating vest and hooded sweater. Her attendance at the finals coincided with her upcoming tennis-themed film, Challengers, set to release next month.
Following the match, Zendaya had the opportunity to congratulate the women’s singles winner, Iga Świątek of Poland, on her victory over Maria Sakkari from Greece. The pair were seen conversing, while Holland stood in the background, recording the moment on his phone.
In the movie, Challengers, Zendaya takes on the role of pro tennis player Tashi Duncan, who finds herself caught in a love triangle involving her husband (portrayed by Mike Faist) and ex-boyfriend (played by Josh O’Connor), both of whom are also rivals on the court.
Zendaya and Tom Holland first met in 2016 when Zendaya auditioned for the movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. Although Zendaya initially downplayed any awkwardness, they developed a close friendship over the next few years while filming the Spider-Man movies. Rumors of their romance started in July 2021 when they were seen kissing in a car.
