After reaching the Super Bowl and AFC championship in 2021 and 2022, the Cincinnati Bengals were brought back down to earth with an underwhelming 9-8 season that saw them miss out on the playoffs completely. The Bengals remain one of the most talented rosters in the league but it seems a few adjustments are still required.
The big offseason move for the Bengals saw Zack Moss come in to replace veteran running back Joe Mixon. The latter spent seven seasons in the Cincinnati where he racked up an impressive 6412 rushing yards and 62 total touchdowns. Moss will have some pretty big shoes to fill but the 26-year-old Florida native seems ready for the challenge.
During a recent conversation with the Bengals website, Moss spoke about his role and adapting to offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher’s new offense.
“I’ve been in a pass-happy offense before and in that role you just kind of find out ways where you can help the team. When I was in Buffalo, that was, okay, how can I be a better pass blocker? And that helped prepare me for each and every step that I’ve gone to and it’s helped me out as a back throughout the years,” said Moss.

As the lead running back , Moss will be relied on to take the majority of the carries but with the dynamic Joe Burrow as the teams quarterback, the Bengals will likely call on him to play a more versatile role. That will include screens, check-down passes and particularly pass blocking.
Along with Burrow, star wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase is set to return and Tee Higgins could be in the lineup as well after being franchise tagged. That means plenty of weapons for Burrow to turn to.
