Isaiah Thomas set for NBA debut with Suns on Wednesday

The Phoenix Suns are expecting Isaiah Thomas to be available for Wednesday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Last week, Thomas signed a ten-day deal with the Suns, although it has yet to be made official.

With eleven years of experience, Thomas brings much-needed help and stability to a Suns team that has been inconsistent this season. If his contract starts on Wednesday, he will be eligible for six games over the next 10 days.

However, the Suns would have to give him a standard contract for him to be eligible for the playoffs. There is a roster opening, so no corresponding move is necessary to make room for Thomas. He will compete with Saban Lee for backup point guard duties.

The Suns will also play against the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday. After being out of the NBA for two years, Thomas has earned a spot on the Phoenix Suns. He recently played in the G League and put-up impressive numbers, scoring at least 30 points in all four games and shooting 44.6% from beyond the arc.

While Thomas is known more for his scoring than playmaking, his addition provides the Suns with a true point guard, something they have lacked this season. Thomas’ perseverance and dedication to the game are commendable, as he could have chosen to go overseas for one last payday or retire but instead fought for another opportunity in the NBA.

He credits his motivation to his children and wanting to set an example for them. Thomas’ journey back to the NBA has been well-documented on social media, and his never-give-up mentality has earned him admiration.

Throughout his career, Thomas has played for various teams, with his best years coming with the Boston Celtics, where he was named an All-Star and earned All-NBA honors.
