Head coach Nick Nurse shared on Saturday, that center Joel Embiid has been reevaluated by doctors, and they are “happy with the progress” following a meniscus surgery on his left knee.
Nick Nurse says Joel Embiid continues to do rehab and on-court work, but still isn’t doing any team activities yet.
Nurse adds that he doesn’t know about a specific number of games Embiid needs to play before the playoffs, and that he typically gets back in game shape quickly.

Philadelphia 76ers head coach, Nurse, said before the Sixers’ 109-98 win over the Charlotte Hornets,
“I think there’s always stages of how these things progress. Everyone wants to know, well, how long is it going to be? And they give a wide range because of that because everyone heals differently. We’re just trying to take it as it comes, get him healthy, and get him back when he’s ready to go.”
Nurse added,
“He did see the doctor last week. They’re happy with the progress. The whispers of him being on court I believe are true, but I haven’t seen any of it. We’ve been gone for a long time — just got back yesterday — and I haven’t seen him.”
As reported, Embiid returned is set to practice on Sunday for the first time since his knee injury in January. Philadelphia hopes to have its star center back by the first or second week of April, but the coach told reporters after practice that there is no timetable for Embiid’s return to action.
Nurse said, via Ky Carter of Sixers Wire,
“Joel was here today, yep. He was on the court. He went through a little bit of the practice. All non-contact stuff. He’s lifting weights right now. No timeline for his return.”
Embiid has been sidelined since Jan. 30, after suffering a meniscus tear in his left knee during a game against the Golden State Warriors. He underwent surgery in early February and has missed the 76ers’ last 22 games.
