The war of words and escalating tension between the Rock and Cody Rhodes is building to a fevered culmination as WrestleMania XL is kicking off in a month.
The pair have been enjoying a cracking battle of the promos in the building up to the main event, which will likely see the pair square off. Anything is possible in the WWE, so we are hoping that the event takes off and is as laced with action as it has been on the mic.
The main event is scheduled to be Rhodes take on the Universal Champion Roman Reigns, who has held the belt for three years.
The event will see Reigns and the rock tag team against Rollins and Rhodes, with the winner earning an advantage in the Dusty vs Roman main event. If the Rock and reigns win, the match will become a “Bloodline” one, where cheating by Roman is allowed, and if Rollins/Rhodes win then there will be a no interference match-up.
Reigns defeated Cody in last year’s WrestleMania but won the Royal Rumble and a change to take on the Tribal Chief.
But the Rock and his cousin Reigns are the heels and Rhodes and Seth Rollins are the good guys.
The writers for the promos are increasingly engaging more vitriol and creativity.
“Kudos to Brian Gewirtz for that nickname,” Rhodes said. “Perhaps you are the actual, literal, final boss.”
Rhodes was referring to the Rocks new nickname, The Final Boss”, as the “American Nightmare” believes the gimmick is overstretched.
The writer for the Rock is ruling the social media roost for now. But WrestleMania separates the heels from the heroes.
