Stephen A Smith had called into question the ethics of CNN’s timing of bringing up alleged comments made by Aaron Rodgers regarding denying the Sandy Hook shooting tragedy took place.
Rodgers was alleged to believe in the conspiracy theory denying the event happened but the timing of bringing up the matter with the Jets quarterback set to become a Vice President nominee to JFK Jr is suspicious according to Smith.
“In the interest of fairness, I would ask this from the CNN reporter and CNN as a network,” Smith said on his podcast.
“Why are we hearing about this just now if this is what transpired in 2013? How is that happening? If you’re in the news business, how is something relevant 12 years later, when you never mentioned it 12 years ago?”
For the record Rodgers went on record in response to CNN and said emphatically, “As I’m on the record saying in the past, what happened in Sandy Hook was an absolute tragedy.
“I am not and have never been of the opinion that the events did not take place. Again, I hope that we learn from this and other tragedies to identify the signs that will allow us to prevent unnecessary loss of life. My thoughts and prayers continue to remain with the families affected along with the entire Sandy Hook community.”
CNN has apparently been sitting on Rodgers behind the scenes talking g about the conspiracy for a decade and regardless of the veracity of the comments, off the record, has been rightly called into question.
He was just as famous back then, less of a conspiracy theorist but well known enough to be newsworthy.
Politics is a dirty game and Rodgers must get used to the gerrymandering, especially given his views on other matters such as covid vaccine hoaxes.
