Former baseball and football star Bo Jackson has revealed a heartwarming anecdote from his playing days, shedding light on his commitment to family even amid professional sports obligations.
Jackson recounted a memorable moment when he intentionally got ejected from a game to be with his wife for the birth of their third child.
During a recent conversation, Jackson shared the story with evident fondness. “That was the third one," he recalled. “That was my daughter in Kansas City playing against the Brewers."
Jackson"s wife went into labor early in the morning, prompting him to devise a plan to exit the game and join her at the hospital. “I need to think of something to do to get out of the game," Jackson admitted. “And I made it up."
When Bo Jackson's third child was born, he intentionally got thrown from the game to go spend time with his wife: "I took strike three right down the pipe, and he called me out. I turned around, gave him a few choice words and he said you're outta here. I said thank you!" #Royals pic.twitter.com/8mh2q6qA4d

“Right in the dugout, first step back, I"m going to take strike three right down the pipe," he explained. “And then I"m going to let the umpire have a few choice words."
The plan unfolded seamlessly as Jackson took the called third strike and engaged in a brief altercation with the umpire. “So I took strike three right down the pipe and he called me out," Jackson recounted. “And I turned around and gave him a few choice words."
Following his ejection, Jackson swiftly made his way to the locker room, foregoing the usual post-game rituals. “I said thank you, went to the locker room, didn"t even shower, put my clothes on, and went to the hospital," he reminisced.
