Cameron Sutton, Detroit Lions cornerback charged with domestic battery, Florida Police in search of the Lion’s CB

Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton reported to be wanted in Florida on a domestic battery by strangulation charge. The Hillsborough County (Fla.) The sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Sutton.

The Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday, Sutton is charged with domestic battery by strangulation, previously said he was wanted on an aggravated battery domestic violence charge.

According to the department’s records, Sutton has been wanted on a charge of domestic battery by strangulation concerning an incident that allegedly occurred on March 7, after an arrest warrant was issued.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a call at a residence in Lutz, Fla., near Tampa, and found a woman who had allegedly been battered, Sutton was no longer at the scene.

Following, Florida Police have been in search of the Lion’s CB Sutton for about two weeks after an arrest warrant was issued over his alleged involvement in a domestic violence case. He is facing a charge of domestic battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

On Wednesday, Phil Martello, a spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, told ESPN that the police have been unable to reach Sutton since March 7. The sheriff’s office even posted a social media post on Wednesday asking for assistance if anyone had seen Sutton.

The Lions released a statement.

“We became aware of the ongoing legal situation involving Cam Sutton this morning. We will continue to monitor the situation and will not have further comment at this time.”

As per ESPN, Sutton had joined the Lions last summer following six NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who selected him in the 2017 draft.
