The Patriots have signed wide receiver KJ Osborn on the back of a dismal season and will be hopeful he can assist a mediocre quarterback division reach for a playoff spot.
Osborn joins the team from the Minnesota Vikings. “It definitely went into the decision,” he told Pats Pulpit.
“I spoke to coach (Jerod) Mayo and (OC Alex Van Pelt) and things like that for the plan going forward … But, I trust them that everything will take care of itself.”
The team is yet to solid a quarterback after the departure of Mac Jones to Jacksonville, but they do have Bailey Zappe and Nathan Rourke on the roster. They also signed veteran Jacoby Brissett on a one-year deal.
Osborn has admitted that the going will be hard for the Patriots after their 4-13 season but is confident the team can lift themselves of they work hard enough.
“Oh yeah, it’s going to be a grind,” Osborn said “Obviously, it wasn’t the best season last year. Obviously, it starts with the top down. We got a great owner and a great head coach, and it starts with the quarterback position. And then everybody — all the guys around them — making that guy better, making that guy feel comfortable, offense, defense, special team,” he added.
The lack of a world class line caller will stretch the Patriots and they will probably snap one up with their third overall pick in the 2024 draft.
“And we build. It doesn’t happen overnight. I know what I signed up for, it’s going to be a grind, man, and I want to be a person that helps this organization get back to where it needs to be,” the receiver concluded.
