NHL world mourns the loss of former NHL player Konstantin Koltsov, who tragically passed away at the young age of 42. The Miami-Dade Police Department disclosed on Tuesday that his death has been categorized as an apparent suicide.
According to a statement issued by the authorities to Reuters, the Bal Harbour Police and Fire Rescue were summoned to the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort at 12:39 a.m. on Monday following reports of a man jumping off a balcony. The Miami-Dade Police Department clarified that there is no suspicion of foul play and has assigned the homicide bureau to lead the investigation.
Konstantin Koltsov was romantically linked with tennis professional Aryna Sabalenka.
Now, in a heartfelt revelation on Instagram, Sabalenka vented out her heartbreal over the loss of her former partner to suicide, confirming their separation while lamenting the tragedy. She requested privacy for herself and Koltsov’s family during this trying period.
“Konstantin’s death is an unthinkable tragedy,” she wrote, “and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken,” she wrote. Please respect my privacy and his family’s privacy during this difficult time.”
Until January 2024, it was evident that Konstantin Koltsov and Aryna Sabalenka were still together. This is backed by Koltsov’s visible support for Sabalenka on Instagram as she clinched her second consecutive Australian Open title.
Koltsov and Sabalenka started dating around June 2021, although the exact date isn’t confirmed. They made their first appearance together on Instagram in June 2021, with Sabalenka sharing a sweet photo of Koltsov planting a kiss on her cheek.
In May 2022, they jetted off to Rome for a romantic trip. Their travels continued to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in July 2022.
Sabalenka also posted a heartfelt birthday tribute for the deceased NFL star in April 2022, where she praised him as her closest companion and strongest support.
Note: Konstantin Koltsov had already been married and divorced. He has three children from his marriage to Julia, which ended in 2020. Interestingly, Aryna Sabalenka wasn’t new to love commitments either. Back in November 2019, she confirmed being engaged, though details remain shrouded in secrecy. She never revealed her fiancé’s identity, and the reason behind their broken engagement remains unknown.
Aryna Sabalenka, currently ranked second in the world, is slated to take part in the Miami Open this week. Despite the devastating circumstances, Sabalenka was spotted arriving for practice at the Miami Open venue in Hard Rock Stadium early Tuesday afternoon. Her upcoming match is scheduled against Spain’s Paola Badosa in the second round.
