On Wednesday, a Kansas City man was charged by Prosecutors in Jackson County, Mo, for theft of approximately $46,000 worth of equipment from the Miami Dolphins back in Jan.

As reported by Brian Dulle of Fox 4, a Missouri man, has been charged after allegedly stealing more than $46,000 worth of equipment from the Miami Dolphins, at their wild-card game.

The man charged has been named Joseph Brown Sr. who is now facing a $50,000 cash bond after being charged with a class C felony.

Per Dulle, Brown Sr. alleged crime took place on Jan. 13, when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Dolphins 26–7 in arctic conditions to reach the AFC divisional round.

WDAF-TV’s Dulle, citing court documents reported, the day after the wild-card game, a Miami representative reported that the theft to police of “a box truck containing team gear/equipment”.

Per court documents, the items stolen were valued at $46,376 and later traced to a vehicle. The items stolen included five Pelican cases with media equipment, four large aqua-colored equipment cases, three large equipment cases, football pads, gloves, shoes, cold weather gear, hockey bags with “cape” coats inside, and game film.

Upon investigation, detectives were able to trace a vehicle that matched Brown’s gray Ford-150, after reviewing surveillance video of the alleged theft. The suspected vehicle was later found with equipment boxes that matched the description of what went missing from the Dolphins.

As per updates, Brown is being held on a $50,000 cash bond. This is the second large-scale alleged equipment theft in the NFL in the past six months, following a massive loss of equipment by the Chicago Bears in September.
