March Madness is littered with exciting moments and while this year’s tournament got off to a slow start, Oregon versus Creighton provided us with one of the game’s of the year. The Round of 32 matchup had moment after moment of clutch shooting and went down to the wire. It took double overtime to finally separate these two teams with Greg McDermott’s Creighton side holding on for a historic 86-73 victory over the Ducks.

Saturday’s game was back and forth with both teams having their share of chances to secure to game. Creighton held the lead in the second half before a nine-point run provided Oregon with a 58-52 advantage with just 5:20 left. The Bluejays fought back to tie the game but two quick buckets from Oregon forward N’Faly Dante saw the Ducks retake a four-point lead with just 1:18 left. Once again, that was not enough with Creighton coming back to secure overtime.

The first overtime was another back and forth with every basket vital. Creighton took the lead but with just 19 seconds left, Jermaine Couisnard pulled off a miraculous three-pointer with a hand in his face to keep his team in the game. The clutch shot was matched by an outstanding call by commentator Andrew Catalon who shouted “Couisnard with stones in Pittsburgh.”

After finishing with an incredible 40 points against South Carolina, Couisnard followed that up with another big night. The Oregon guard had 32 points, eight rebounds and three assists and its hard to imagine what more he could’ve done to earn a win.

The win means Creighton will move on to the Sweet 16 and will prepare to face No. 2 Tennessee in the next round.
