In 2020, the Los Angeles Dodgers traded for 2018 American League MVP Mookie Betts and signed him to a colossal 12-year, $365 million deal. In 2022, the organization added another MVP in Freddie Freeman, locking up the first baseman to a six-year, $162 million contract. If those signing were not enough to strike fear into their opponents, the Dodgers went ahead and signed two-time MVP Shohei Ohtani to a 10-year, $700 million contract this offseason. With a long list of talented stars on the roster, it makes sense that many experts have the Dodgers as the early favorites for the World Series.
Opening Day is only a few days away and that means analysts and fans are starting to make their predictions for the upcoming season. The Dodgers won a 100 games last season without Ohtani so it is not inconceivable that they could top that win total this year. According to the team over at Talkin’ Baseball, the total wins for Los Angeles is set at 103.5.
“I don’t even know what to say about this team. I think the potential here…I mean it is like a 110, 115 win team,” said former MLB player Trevor Plouffe.

The Dodgers have won the National League West in 10 of the last 11 seasons. Over that 11-year stretch, the franchise has finished with over a 100 wins on five occasions and over 90 every other season (barring the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season).
Considering the talent and depth on this Dodgers rosters, it would take a brave man to predict Dave Roberts side will win fewer than 100 games. With Shohei Ohtani added to a roster that is littered with All-Star talent, the Dodgers could surpass the franchise’s 111 win record that was set in 2022.
