After suffering an agonizing loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 Super Bowl and following that up with a playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Philadelphia Eagles know they are only a few pieces short of a title push. Head coach Nick Sirianni and the organization are hoping the addition of star running back Saquon Barkley could be the difference in 2024.
The New York Giants obviously saw something special in Barkley when they used the second overall pick to select the dynamic running back in the 2018 NFL Draft. After six seasons in New York, Barkley decided to test the free agency market and was promptly picked up by the Eagles. Signing one of the game’s star players to a three-year, $37.75 million contract could turn out to be a bargain for an Eagles team already packed with star-studded talent.
On Sunday, Sirianni talked with NFL insider Tom Pelissero about the team’s high-profile signing, his versatility and and how Barkley’s skillset could impact this team.
“I’m really excited about Saquon and the things that he can do. You know he’s such a dynamic football player. Both as a running back and also the things he can do as a pass catcher, said Sirianni.

Over the last six seasons with the Giants, Barkley has racked up an impressive 5211 rushing yards averaging 4.3 yards per attempt. He has 47 total touchdown in 74 games.
Sirianni went on to praise the 27-year-old’s attitude on and off the field and spoke of his leadership qualities.
“He’s going to bring an element to our offense and to our team,” added Sirianni. “From my understanding and all of our homework he’s a good leader and teammate, as well. To be able to add that into our locker room, and not only the playmaking ability, but the person, is really important.”
Along with Jalen Hurts, A.J Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert, the Eagles boast one of the most talented offenses entering the season. Throw two-time Pro Bowler Saquon Barkley in the mix, and NFL teams will be dreading facing Sirianni and his men.
