The Houston Rockets prominent center, Alperen Sengun, might rejoin the squad in the 2023-24 regular season. The Houston Rockets are currently standing in the season with a score of 35-35 and in the Western Conference, they are in 11th place.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon via AHN Fire Digital, “It’s within the realm of possibility that Sengun could return during the regular season. When he got hurt – and obviously avoided a major injury – but it’s still a significant sprain of his ankle. So, we kind of assumed he’d be done for the season because they weren’t gonna have anything to play for.”
Further continuing, “I was told there’s a very real chance that it could come down to late in the regular season and a, ‘Hey, does it make sense to bring him back?’ And obviously, the No. 1 thing is going to be, ‘Is he cleared, medically?’
“They’re not going to bring him back if they’re not playing for something, but they’re putting themselves in a position where they’ve got a chance to play for something.”
“Sources tell me Alperen Sengun has suffered a Grade 3 right ankle sprain, he will miss several weeks… tremendous sigh of relief, but this likely ends his regular season.”

Due to a Grade 3 ankle sprain, Sengun had missed six games for Houston Rockets. However, it was earlier anticipated that he would miss the rest of the season due to the injury. Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium had earlier mentioned, “Sources tell me Alperen Sengun has suffered a Grade 3 right ankle sprain, he will miss several weeks… tremendous sigh of relief, but this likely ends his regular season.”
If Sengun is able to join the squad, they will certainly get a boost, as the Rockets are now impressively moving further in the game. But the squad will be careful to avoid pushing him too soon.
The center is currently averaging 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. His shooting percentage from the field is 53.7 and beyond the arc is 29.7. Sengun, before the injury, was posting his best performance in his career.
The Rockets will next face the Portland Trail Blazers and then headlock with the Oklahoma City Thunder. After Thunder, the squad will face the Utah Jazz.
